montage of old campground brochures

Long before we ever imagined owning a campground, we visited a lot of them as children.  Our parents had converted an old bus into a camper complete with bunk beds, a gas stove, and fridge. Painted light blue with “The Bunce Bunch” painted across the back door – you would remember it if you’d seen it.  That’s how the seven of us went on vacations up and down the East Coast for years. When we found Happy Days as adults, it reminded us of some of the campgrounds we stayed at during those great trips.

We are honored to be the current stewards of Happy Days Campground. We hope people continue to create new camping memories with family and friends on this land for many generations.

Happy Days Campground was born in 1967, nestled on 30 acres of unspoiled woodland just four miles from what would become the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival site. For over half a century, this land has been a sanctuary – a place to escape the pressures and obligations of the every day and take a load off.

Following the local rhythms, on most days the campground – like the Town of Bethel –  is a quiet pastoral oasis. Other times, when there is an event in town or a big show at Bethel Woods, a festive feeling fills the air as fans gather and excitement builds in anticipation of their shared experience. There is magic in both.  Whenever you visit, whether you’re pitching a tent, pulling in with an RV, or opting for a nostalgic getaway in one of our vintage campers, you’ll become part of the history of these woods.
We look forward to welcoming you.
