From Century-Old Timber to Your Weekend Retreat

When Superstorm Sandy swept through Western New York, she left her mark on Happy Days. Many of our elder trees—some that had stood watch over this land for more than 100 years—were felled in the wind. While much of the cleanup became campfire wood, we couldn’t bring ourselves to burn the largest logs. They felt like a piece of history worth saving.
The logs sat on the Hill’s exit road until a conversation with our friend Dave changed everything.
- The Milling: Dave brought his portable mill to the campground, and together we milled the timber, stacking it carefully to season and dry for years.
- The Call: In August of 2020, Dave called with a simple question: “What are you doing this week? Let’s build a cabin!”
- The Build: Under the expert eye of Dave (a truly great carpenter), and with the help of family and friends, we framed the cabin onto a steel RV chassis.
The Cabin, built on site with wood from our land, is a one-of-a-kind accommodation that we hope folks will enjoy for many years.
Our Cabin – a truly unique camping option!
What’s Inside & Out:
- Sleeping: One RV Queen bed and a set of twin-sized bunk beds.
- Porch Kitchen: The simple exterior kitchen includes a refrigerator, hot plate, and sink—perfect for morning coffee in the woods.
- Lights and Power: Easy access to electric outlets and lighting both inside and outside the cabin.
- Dining: Table and chairs inside for rainy days, plus a classic picnic table and fire ring at your private campsite.
What’s Not Included:
- Air Conditioning: There is a ceiling fan in the cabin, but no AC.
- Bathroom: All guests have 24/7 access to our clean, nearby shower house for toilets and showers.
- Linens & Pillows: Bring your own bedding or sleeping bags for the Queen and Twin beds.
